Registered Osteopath: The Osteopathic Act was passed in 1993 and as a result of this a statutory regulatory body known as the General Osteopathic Council was developed. Membership of the GOsC is mandatory for anyone wishing to practise as a registered osteopath: only those practitioners who have been assessed as safe and competent within osteopathic practise are licensed by the Council.

Chartered Physiotherapists: In the United Kingdom the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists is the sole recognised examining and professional body and its members are recognised by the designatory letters “MCSP” after their name. All members of the CSP are entitled to become State Registered Physiotherapists.
